Contemporary Kitchen Extension | Burrow, Lancashire

This kitchen extension was designed to create a striking yet sympathetic contrast to a 19th-century country home.

The client wanted a modern kitchen and living space that would improve the way the home functioned while still respecting the character of the original property.

The design combines modern timber elements with the existing stonework, creating a balance between traditional and contemporary materials. Rather than trying to replicate the original building, the extension was designed to complement it — allowing the old and new elements to work together.

Externally, the project also included the construction of a patio area with garden walls and steps, helping to extend the living space outdoors. This creates a natural flow between the kitchen and garden, making it ideal for entertaining and everyday family life.

The finished extension adds both style and practicality to the home while enhancing the character of the original property.
